Risk identification and management advice.

Risk Identification At the risk of stating the obvious, the best way to avoid the pitfalls in any contractual arrangement is to identify and understand them – “forewarned is forearmed”.  Our professional staff can assist you in this process by bringing their substantial knowledge and experience to the table.

Risk Management

Having identified the potential risks, we can advise you on how best to manage the risks in the contractual context.

Document risk analysis

Documentation risks

Errors or discrepancies in contract documentation represent a substantial risk to both time and money.  Our experienced staff can assist you to identify and eliminate these risks.

Dispute Resolution and avoidance

Arbitration

Our arbitration specialists can resolve building related disputes between parties in a quasi legal environment, particularly where this method is specified under the building contract or otherwise by agreement between the parties.

Conciliation

Conciliation is a softer means by which building disputes can often be resolved whereby the parties come together under the guidance of our expert conciliator who will assist them to reach an equitable solution which invariably involves some compromise but concludes the dispute without undue waste of time and cost.

Expert assessment

Our highly experienced professional staff can often resolve building disputes at an early stage by providing an expert and independent assessment of the merit and value of a claim which, if accepted by the parties, can obviate the need for engaging in additional dispute resolution processes.

Preparing, defending and negotiating claims

Claims preparation

We can assist a party to a building contract in the preparation of a claim, including all the supporting information such as measurement and costing of the work, as well as the contractual justification, necessary to justify the claim.

Expert witness

Our very experienced professional Quantity Surveyors can provide expert witness evidence in court in support of building related calims.
